First Assignment

So when I first thought of this assignment the first thing that came to mind was Facebook and how invasive it has become. Have you ever noticed how the images and ads on Facebook seem to perfectly match what you like and what you may be drawn to? This is because advertising companies will monitor what you look at through your computer and then set up advertising specific to you. This however does not only happen in the computer but also in newspapers, television, and billboards. A lot of times when we see a visual of something we make an assumption, whether for good or bad an assumption is made and we stick to it. The most persuasive images that we see are those we can closely connect to making it easier for it to push us towards the assumption the author wants us to make. Your more likely to be persuaded by an image if you can relate it to your on life so you make that immediate connection. To coincide with this however, an image must be able to catch your attention. The image needs to be able draw people in so that they can really see it and begin to make those connections to the image and either persuade them one way or another. But, the whole point i was making with Facebook is that a lot of times the images we see are directly targeted to us and almost chosen for us based on our previous history or the demographic of our surrounding area. The images we see are chosen for us based on numbers and when used correctly can be a powerful force in swaying the masses.
